How to Stay Fit Over The Holidays

Holidays means we drop our usual routine and opt for parties, sunshine and relaxation. But that doesn't mean we should forget to look after our bodies. Here are some tips on keeping active, while also enjoying the holiday season.

Fuel up before heading out

If you don’t want to undo all your hard effort this year, then take a few extra steps to be prepared. If you’re a heading to a party on an empty stomach, it will be too tempting to indulged on the naughty food or eat too much once the hungry as well as truly set in. Instead, have a light snack before you go to kill the cravings like a handful of nuts. That way, there is enough fuel in the body to make it to the dinner and also helps line the stomach if you are planning on having a drink.

Bring a plate of healthy
If you are worried that they’ll only be party pies and snags to munch on, why not prepare a healthy plate of food to take? Not only will the host of grateful for the contribution, but it will also you give (and probably others) a guilt-free and satisfying option to snack on while you celebrate.

Stick to your workouts

This one might seem like a no-brainer, but holidays can also be busy times (especially at Christmas). So don’t put your fitness routines on hold. Plan your day so it includes your usual sessions, or better yet, try working out first thing in the morning so you have the rest of the day to be spontaneous! Another great tip is to move your treadmill (or other machine) into your bedroom or living area. Somewhere so it's in sight and you won't be able to ignore it.

Don’t forget to hydrate

It’s such as important one in our Aussie heat, but keeping up good hydration is also vital in keeping your body functioning efficiently as well as keeping us cool. Drinking plenty of water also helps to flush out and digest all the extra party food and drink we’re consuming over the holiday season.
